Refrigerator Door Switch – Different Brands Relacement Method

Generally, there are three switches in the refrigerator, namely the refrigerator door switch, the temperature control switch, and the compensation switch.

Elfevidently, the temperature control switch is used to adjust and set the environment temperature. When the indoor temperature is too low, the refrigerator can not start to melt the food, compensation switch will work so that the thermostat can start and stop normally.
Another is the refrigerated lighting switch, also called the refrigerator door switch which automatically turns “ON” and “OFF” as the door is opened.

The door switch in the refrigerator is used to activate the light when the door is opened and turn off the light when the door is closed.
So, the SPDT and SPST Normally Closed(NC) types are suitable for it but the SPDT type needs to make sure one of connecting points is connected with the NC terminal.
Meanwhile, some designs will connect with the NO for other functional requirements.

We can see obviously the switch when opening the door, like the attached picture, if you are not sure you can pressure it to see if the light becomes OFF. If yes, which is the light switch you are looking for.

Generally, we can test a switch with a multimeter but it is not convenient for the housewife or a man without a multimeter. So, you can use a battery and an indicator light to know if the switch can work or not.

• Firstly, remove the door switch
• Secondly, remove the connector from the switch terminal
• Thirdly, link the connector with the new switch
• Fourthly, press it in the original position
• Finally, use the hand to press the actuator to test if the light can work or not.
• But different brands have different construction, the way replaces also a little bit different.
